The first true Cartier watch, the Santos, designed by Louis Cartier and named for Alberto
Santos-Dumont, a dashing Brazilian aviator, was introduced in 1904. In 1917, the House of
Cartier introduced the famous Cartier Tank watch. Long regarded as the single most important
and influential watch design of the 20th century, the distinctive Cartier Tank watches were
designed in tribute to the Allied Tank commanders who helped defend France during World War I.
In 1933, Cartier was commissioned by the Pasha of Marrakech to create a watch he could wear
while swimming. As one of the earliest truly water-resistant designs, the Cartier Pasha
watch featured an attractive round case of solid gold.
Today, the Cartier watch designers draw on the astounding design archives left by Louis
Cartier, the design genius responsible for many of the house's signature innovations,
patents and collections. Most of the contemporary Cartier collections are based upon
Louis distinctive design classics such as the Santos, the Panther, the Bagnoire, the
Pasha, the Tonneau, the Diabolo, and the Tank.

Artistically combining the classic elegance of Italian design with the matchless precision of Swiss craftsmanship,
every Gucci watch represents watch making at its finest. From inception to finished piece, Gucci's philosophy
demands a commitment to the highest standards, attention to detail and exacting quality control. Reinforcing
that commitment even further, the Gucci watch's authorized service centers around the world, staffed by highly
skilled professional watchmakers, ensure Gucci watches continue to endure the test of time. Unquestionable
quality and respect for tradition - to this day these ideals remain the hallmark of the Gucci name.
It started from humble beginnings in 1920. Guccio Gucci opened a shop in Florence featuring his fine leather
goods accessories for men and women. Soon after, he and his sons, Aldo, Ugo, Vasco and Rodolfo, spread the Gucci
name to Rome and Milan. By 1953, even New York City had a Gucci store selling
the world famous Gucci classics -
handbags with a bamboo handle, moccasins with snaffle-bit detailing, trademark G belt clasps, and printed silk
foulards and ties. By the late '60s additional stores had been opened in London, Palm Beach, Paris, Beverly Hills
and Tokyo. Soon after, Rodolfo's son Mauritzio resurrected his grandfather's motto, "Stay small to remain great"
and cut the Gucci line back from over 20,000 items to 5,000 and recaptured the prestigious brand's focus on high
quality accessories. The Gucci collection of fine watches remained and continues to endure.

The origins of the Omega watch brand date back to the last century when Louis Brandt
opened his watch assembly workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848, the same year that
the Swiss Confederation was born. In 1880, Louis Brandt's sons Louis-Paul and César
relocated the plant to the flats of Bienne where manpower, energy and communication
lines were more accessible.
The Bienne company was the first watch enterprise to abandon the assembly workshop
system in favour of a true modern factory producing all its own parts; the result
was competitively priced watches of irreproachable quality and precision. This
revolution in watchmaking culminated in the famous "OMEGA" 19-line calibre created
in 1894 -- a symbol of excellence which would give the company its name.
Launched by highly original marketing techniques, these new Omega watches met with
immediate success. From that time forward, at the forefront of watchmaking know-how,
Omega has pioneered in elegant watchmaking and accurate timekeeping.
Since the early 20th century, Omega has been a leader in the field of sports timing.
The company has produced pioneering inventions such as the world's first photofinish
camera, the first electronic chronometer to record times to one thousandth of a second,
the touch-pad system for timing swimming events and, more recently, live timing of
sports events on the Internet. It is undoubtedly thanks to the considerable expertise
behind such inventions that Omega is chosen as official timekeeper of the world's major
sporting events. Having been the first company to be appointed official timekeeper for
all events at the 1932 Olympic Games, Omega went on to be awarded the same privilege a
total of 20 times since.
The World of Omega is defined by high-profile watches on display in the most select
show-windows in more than 130 countries. Fine time-pieces worn by outstanding
"ambassadors" like Cindy Crawford, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Schumacher and Martina
Hingis... Leaders in their fields who express the spirit of the brand through their
personalities, their words and their actions, reflecting all the elegance,
sophistication and achievement behind every Omega watch.
When the American space agency NASA purchased chronographs from ten different brands
off the shelf with a view to testing time for use in the Apollo space program, they
devised the toughest tests any wristwatch has ever been subjected to. The tests were
so tough that only one watch survived them all intact: the Omega Speedmaster. As a
result, the Speedmaster was flight-qualified for manned space missions by NASA and
therefore became the only watch to be worn on the moon. Omega's association with
space exploration continues to this day with the Speedmaster Professional still the
only watch flight-qualified by NASA and chosen by the Russian space agency for use
in space.
